JUKEBOX started from the
desire to dance to the music I always wanted to dance to. For me this was the
most direct way to create. Music as a library of life. Each song or piece of
music brings us memories, moods (sensations?), “worlds”, characters, ways of
being and ways of seeing.
“His proposition is to show us the tools that an artist uses, the
instruments that make him a one-man band”.
Barbara Raubert Nonell,
JUKEBOX is, after a long career as a dancer, Jordi Casanovas' first
solo. With this performance he starts creating his own work in
collaboration with Maria Muñoz and Pep Ramis.
JUKEBOX is part of a laboratory-project that Mal Pelo started in 2007,
wanting to give creation-tools to the performers that have worked with the
company for a long time.
JUKEBOX is part of the
residential programme at L'animal a l'esquena - cos creació pensament (The
Animal on Your Back - Body, Mind, Thought). Creative residencies at L'animal a
l'esquena welcome projects with a particular creative process or artistic
production and provide time and space for people to meet and generate material
for work and food for thought.
